Virtual Tastings

Shiraz has been such a savior for us in this new virtual world. He’s been accommodating, easy to work with and the participants love the sessions.

I recently joined an event with Acker Wines in New York City – hosted by Chairman John Kapon and featuring Aldo Sohm, chief sommelier at Le Bernardin – all about Grüener Veltliner. Sohm is, of course, uniquely qualified to talk about Grüener. He grew up in up in Austria and has his own label– so may be a bit biased.

Mr. Kapon has set up a system in which wine aficionados can order ahead to have the bottles delivered before the tasting. The hourlong sessions are followed by continued discussions on Instagram Live with prominent wine figures who take questions from people at home.
