The 2009 Chablis 1er Cru Montee de Tonnerre has a more exotic bouquet than the 2010, with scents of white chocolate and almond more prominent. The palate is crisp and focused with fine precision, very harmonious with hints of hazelnut, orange peel and minerals toward the long but tender finish. What a gorgeous Chablis – rich but wonderfully detailed. - WA

Subtle wood sets off aromas of flowers, oyster shell and tidal pool that complement perfectly the racy, pure and strikingly well-detailed medium plus weight flavors that brim with minerality on the delicious, mouth coating and impressively long finish. This beautifully vibrant and concentrated effort should drink well young and age well too plus it's more classic in style than many wines from this vintage. - BH

The 2009 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre is super-impressive. There is a level of detail, nuance and energy to the fruit that is quite rare in 2009. The Montée de Tonnerre possesses dazzling purity all the way through to the finely articulated, chiseled finish. This is yet another superb effort from Raveneau. I have a slight preference for the 2010 here, but the 2009 will offer fabulous drinking while its younger sibling ages in the cellar. - VM

The 2009 Montée de Tonnerre is also stunning. The nose offers up a beautiful mélange of apples, a touch of pear, kaleidoscopic minerality, acacia blossoms and beeswax. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and shows off great mid-palate depth, with ripe acids, laser-like focus and superb grip on the very, very long and nascently complex finish. The 2009 Montée de Tonnerre will drink sooner than either the 2007 or 2008 versions, but it loses nothing from its earlier structural accessibility. A superb wine. 93+ - JG
