This is notably ripe yet there is a lovely sense of freshness to the apricot, peach, pear and hazelnut aromas that are liberally laced with stone hints. The dense, serious and enveloping medium-bodied flavors possess a seductive texture thanks to the abundance of dry extract, all wrapped in a powerful, intense and overtly mineral-infused finish. Chevalières is typically a wine of finesse but in 2009 it's much more broad-scaled than usual with absolutely superb depth and length on the clean, dry and energetic finish. A knockout. - BH

Pale, greenish-yellow. Brisk aromas of lemon, lime and crushed stone. Rich, dense and very ripe but more minerally than the Rougeots; a note of marzipan shades to hazelnutty lees on the round, very long back end. - VM

The 2009 Meursault Les Chevalieres flows with the essence of apricots, mint, minerals and flowers. This really needs at least a few more years in bottle, as it is intensely cool and inward at this stage. Still, the exceptionally long, polished finish makes me very optimistic about the future.
