Here too there is enough reduction to render a proper evaluation of the nose impossible. Otherwise, there is almost lavish richness to the still nicely vibrant and beautifully textured medium weight plus flavors that manage to retain reasonably good delineation on the lingering finale that could also use slightly better complexity. - BH

The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot unwinds in the glass with aromas of pear, citrus zest, fresh mint and warm bread. Medium to full-bodied, rich and concentrated, its satiny attack segues into a layered, tightly wound core framed by bright acids and chalky structuring extract. As ever, it's a benchmark rendition of this site. - WA

The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeots 1er Cru has an attractive brioche-tinged bouquet with lime and light tangerine aromas. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, quite taut and saline with impressive weight and girth on the finish. Some lovely dry extract here lending umami. This is a wonderful Morgeots. (NM) - VM

And the best bottling of Morgeot in the village of Chassagne? It is excellent in 2020. The bouquet is youthful, but still perfectly delineated already and flat out beautiful, offering up scents of lemon, pear, a complex base of chalky soil tones, beeswax, white lilies, lemon blossoms and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and zesty, with a lovely core, gorgeous soil signature, tangy acids and laser-like focus on the long, seamlessly balanced and electric finish. A stunning bottle in the making. - JG
