"This too is quite aromatically broad-ranging with its elegant nose that displays notes of anise, violet, lilac, Asian-style tea, red berry fruit and plenty of spice nuances. There is almost painful intensity to the beautifully precise, even chiseled medium weight flavors that possess a lacy and classy mouthfeel, all wrapped in a beautifully persistent finish that is also youthfully, serious and firm. I very much like the sense of harmony and this should age effortlessly."

Very expressive raspberry coulis and wild strawberry bouquet, slightly confit-like in style. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, touches of truffle infusing the dark berry fruit and just the right amount of salinity and elegance on the finish, which lingers in the mouth. V

The 2017 Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru bursts with expressive aromas of rose petal, exotic spices, peonies and raspberries, with comparatively little to suggest the savory complexity to come with bottle age. Medium to full-bodied, it's one of the ampler, more expansive wines in the range, its satiny tannins concealed in a classy core of fruit, with a deep but open-knit core and good energy, concluding with a fragrant finish. - WA
