There is a touch of phenolic character to the very ripe aromas of freshly sliced fennel, petrol, poached pear and citrus confit. There is excellent concentration to the very rich bigger-bodied flavors that also possess very fine intensity on the even more mineral-suffused finale that is a bit more complex. Patience strongly suggested. - BH

The 2019 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru opens in the glass with notes of citrus oil, white flowers, almond paste and mint. Medium to full-bodied, crisp and tangy, it's racy and precise, though a little more texture and mid-palate amplitude might not have gone amiss. (WK) - WA
