Like the Lavières, there is a touch of post-bottling reduction but there is excellent freshness and underlying tension on the palate of the rich and wonderfully textured bigger-bodied and tautly muscular flavors that culminate in a dusty, compact and very clearly built-to-age finale. This isn't as dense as it usually is but it's even finer and the balance is so good that this beauty should age for as long as anyone might reasonably care to. - BH

Crimson purple, with some oak on the nose, more in red fruit, and less evident whole bunch. A rising sense of balance as we go up the scale, and also a proper crop. Raspberry and alpine strawberry, a little black pepper touch before the more typical white pepper notes, the fruit streams out gracefully behind. A very fine middleweight Corton from a healthy 30 hl/ha crop. - JM

From four parcels comprising 1.5-hectares, the 2021 Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru has a harmonious bouquet with dark plum, licorice and hints of menthol. This blossoms in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins framing the dusky, black fruit laced with white pepper, thyme and bay leaf. Very persistent, this is an excellent Corton-Bressandes. - VM
