Savory herbs, wild flowers, mint and black fruit all take shape in the 2012 Pommard Les Rugiens. The aromatics are nicely lifted, while there is plenty of vintage 2012 fruit and tannin to fill out the wine's frame. Here it is the wine's balance that impresses most of all. - VM

The 2012 Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugiens comes from two plots in the lieu-dit “Les Rugiens Bas”. It has an expressive marine-influenced bouquet with touches of sea spray infusing the brambly black fruit. It has a little more new oak at around 35%, which is translated onto the palate. There is certainly good weight present here, a solid, old school Les Rugiens with firm grip and freshness on the finish, the bead of acidity keeping everything tight and focused. Classy. - WA
