Reduction. As one would reasonably expect this is much finer than the Porusots with the highly refined and mineral-inflected mouth feel exhibited by the middle weight flavors that dance across the palate before culminating in a wonderfully complex and persistent finish. A Genevrières of finesse but one that packs plenty of flavor authority and punch. - BH

The 2012 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrieres comes from vines two-thirds planted in 1946 and the remainder in 1993. It has a laconic, mineral-driven bouquet that will need time once bottled. The palate is rounded and generous on the entry with touches of orange peel and spice towards the weight, honeyed finish. This Genevrieres has a touch more richness and opulence than Dominique Lafon's other 2012s and it should age beautifully. - WA

Bright yellow-green. Aromas of lime oil and smoky oak suggest a very concentrated wine. Then sweet, sappy and chewy on the palate, with enticing minerality framing and intensifying the flavors of soft citrus fruits, clove and smoke. Finishes vibrant, tactile and long, with lovely lingering perfume and a light touch. - VM
