The 1985 Dom Pérignon P3 is showing brilliantly from magnum, offering up a deep and complex nose of waxy lemon rind, oyster shell, mandarin, iodine and smoky autolysis. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, with a fine but ebullient mousse, exceptional concentration and intensity, brisk acids and a long, expansive finish. This disgorgement is beautifully timed, capturing the wine in a phase of controlled opulence, and it is drinking beautifully today. - WA
