An expressive nose of lightly spiced white flower and iodine aromas gives way to supple and round yet energetic flavors that possess fine levels of dry extract that buffer the moderately firm acid spine on the beautifully intense finish. The 2009 Chablis Vaillons is all about delineation, focus and transparency. It is a compelling, marvelously subtle wine in every way. In particular, the Vaillons successfully reconciles the generosity of the year with the minerality that is typical of this site. (AG) - WA

The 2009 Raveneau Vaillons is simply fantastic this year. The stunning nose soars from the glass in a blaze of grapefruit, apple, lemon oil, lovely minerality, a touch of fennel and a topnote of white flowers. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and rock solid at the core, with great focus, lovely terroir, and stunning cut and grip on the very, very long and tensile finish. This is a classic bottle of Vaillons in the making. - JG
