A noble purple with a greater density of colour than the Nuits-St-Georges. Perfumed and floral this time. Then the fresh fruit notes start to come up through the middle. Very harmonious, more red than black, a little tingle from the ripe stems, finishes on the most sublimely elegant of strawberries. Very persistent, a Chambolle of great class.

Lachaux's 2019 Chambolle-Musigny Village is performing brilliantly, offering up notions of raspberries, plums, peonies, potpourri and warm spices. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and enveloping, with a vibrant core of fruit, powdery tannins and a long, resonant finish, it's beautifully balanced and built to age, even if it's hard to resist out of the gates. - WA
