This is also perfumed though more softly with a wonderfully spicy character to the moderately expressive nose that mixes rose petal with both red and black pinot fruit. There is more richness, volume and concentration to the mid-palate of the middle weight flavors that coat the mouth with sap on the balanced, powerful and seriously long finish. There is perhaps a bit more wood at present than I personally prefer but the density is such that my range offers the benefit of the doubt that it will be successfully absorbed. Dark, alluring and mysterious, the 2012 Vosne-Romane´e Les Suchots presents yet another side of Vosne. Here the flavors and textures are dark and beguiling to the core. Black cherry, plum, star anise and spices all flesh out in a supple wine that takes on layers of resonance from the clay-rich soils. The flavors are beautifully layered and shaped by the French oak in a wine that at its essence is quintessentially Vosne. (Drink between 2022-2042) - VM

The 2012 Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Les Suchots comes from a tiny 0.17-hectare parcel of 45-year old vines. It has a very open and generous bouquet with brambly red berry fruit and rose petals. – all very well defined. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp, succulent tannins, hints of coffee bean infusing the red fruit and lending exoticism towards the finish. Punchy and ravishing: this is what you want for your Suchots. - WA
