Full-bodied and just a touch oily. The oak is forthright, and this has great concentration and huge power before a driving, saline finish. Almost too intense to broach now, but is likely to be very long lasting. Grown on sandy soils, matured in barriques (20% new) and concrete. - DC

A candidate for the white of the vintage, the 2021 Châteauneuf Du Pape Prestige Blanc is a normal blend of Roussanne, Grenache Blanc, and Clairette, but there are just two demi-muids produced. Brilliant aromatics of white peach, honeyed flowers, salty mineral, and toasted bread define the nose, and it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a silky, elegant mouthfeel, integrated acidity, and a great finish. I finished my note with "stunning wine." I'd happily drink a bottle today, yet it has the capacity to evolve for 15-20 years as well. - JD

Made from 60% Roussanne, 20% Grenache Blanc and 20% Clairette, the 2021 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc Prestige uses small amounts of new French oak barrels for fermentation and maturation. This is why the wine carries more weight than the traditional Blanc, which doesn’t see any new oak. Mingling aromas of honeysuckle, jasmine, yellow apple, white peach, quince, melon, vanilla, cedar and verbena tea, this full-bodied wine hits the palate with excellent flavor concentration and fresh acidity. - VM
