An overtly sauvage-suffused nose reflects additional notes of spice, red and dark currant and a plethora of floral elements. The suave yet beautifully detailed medium weight plus flavors display ample minerality along with focused power on the sleek, chiseled and superbly long finish that offers the best acid/fruit/tannin balance in the range. Patience however will be required as this too is compact and built-to-age. - BH

Picked 28th September. A rich, indeed sumptuous purple. Exceptionally youthful bouquet with a little touch of new wood. A magical wine, which is entirely in balance. It is not just the concentration which moves to another level but the sublime and effortless suavity of texture. All in pure red fruit, nothing dark, my favourite alpine strawberries, but a host of other berries as well. Magical. - JM

The 2021 Chambertin Grand Cru includes 60% whole clusters. This has a typically regal bouquet with a mixture of red and black fruit, loam, crushed stone and spicebox. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, wonderful depth, great intensity and vibrancy with a long and persistent finish. This simply builds and builds unlike the Chapelle-Chambertin, a magnificent 2021. - VM
