2021 H. Lignier Morey St. Denis Vieilles Vignes 750ml
Located in New York
“The 2021 old vine bottling of Premier Cru is a lovely bottle of Morey St. Denis. The bouquet is deep and complex, offering up scents of dark berries, sweet black plums, venison, bonfire, a lovely base of dark soil tones, espresso and cedary oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and pure, with an excellent core of black fruit, fine soil inflection, ripe, buried tannins and a long, vibrant and complex finish. Fine juice. 2033-2085.”

Reviews & Scores
A distinctly earthy and very fresh nose offers up its aromas of just picked wild cherry and pretty floral wisps. There is excellent intensity to the larger-scaled and denser medium weight flavors that exhibit ample minerality on the powerful, compact and serious finale. This balanced effort also has a superb aging track record and seems considerably more promising in this respect compared to the Chaffots. - BH

Planted between 1936 and 1952 for the most part. A noble crimson purple colour with an exceptionally fine red fruit bouquet. A salinity at the back along with pepper that suggests (non-existent) stems. Very long fine and graceful. Perfect balancing acidity. Drink from 2027-2035. - JM

A blend of Faconnières and Les Chenevery, the 2021 Morey-Saint-Denis Vieilles Vignes 1er Cru, has an earthy bouquet, touches of liquorice infusing the red berry fruit, then becoming saline with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, quite fleshy. Not as complex as other recent vintages but cohesive and sustained on the finish with a minerally aftertaste. Give it time in bottle. - VM
