Both the colour and the bouquet speak of youth rather than age. This is a vintage which has declined to speed towards full maturity, without being shut down too much en route. The bouquet retains an exuberant headiness, possibly on the funky side without detracting form the pleasure. Indeed, the wine cleaned up steadily in the glass. This 1990 Boudots retains its muscularity throughout, but the fruit gains in precision the longer the wine is in the glass. - JM

The Nuits St.-Georges-Les Boudots, made from one of Meo-Camuzet's lowest yielding vineyards (over 50-year old vines), reveals a saturated deep ruby/purple color, a terrific nose of black fruits, minerals, licorice, and new oak, medium to full body, and a muscular, chunky finish with gobs of tannin, glycerin, and alcohol. - WA
