    "Without a doubt the most controversial wine of the evening...one person was convinced that it was maderized and very vehement about it, although the three senior palates at the table disagreed...however, one of those palates did not like the wine anyway! Personally I thought the wine was fabulous. Italian wines are not for everyone, but fortunately I do not have that problem. The wine had an amazing nose, full of leathery, sweet saddle, spice, tar, anise, smoky, huge tannins and alcohol...outstanding! Ripe, tarry, leathery flavors on the palate as well...one of the wines of the night."

    Spectacular in the way it burst from the glass with an exciting array of dark fruit, menthol, spices and minerals. The Red Label Riservas get most of the attention in 1982, but this bottle showed superb detail, freshness and delineation.
