Stunning nose, and absolutely electric palate. So serious, so sophisticated – up there with the best. Brioche, smoke, apple, spice – take your pick. This is exemplary mature champagne, and the strength of the vintage shows. 18.5/20 points. (RH) - JR

Rich in texture and beautifully balanced, showing lemon, honey, floral and peach notes. There's just a hint of toast and brine. This is lively and reveals candied citrus on the lingering aftertaste. Excellent length. Disgorged in 2005. Drink now through 2020. (BS) - WS

We had no problem polishing off two bottles of the sublime 1995 Dom Pérignon Oenothèque to start. What a wine! Our bottles were superb; clean, precise and intensely aromatic, with endless layers of fruit and phenomenal balance. - VM

The 1995 Dom Perignon Oenotheque is the second release of this wine, and was disgorged in 2005. This silky-textured Champagne reveals breathtaking finesse, elegance and clarity in its perfumed bouquet, with delicate notes of pears and roasted nuts that add further complexity. The finish goes on and on. This mind-bending Champagne possesses all of the qualities of profoundness, most importantly the ability to develop beautifully in the glass and the potential to acquire even more depth in bottle over the coming years. It is a stunner. - WA
