Cocktails & Food Provide an Interesting Twist
In the world of fine dining culture and experience, wine seems to be the pairing of choice. Sommeliers serve wine from all over the world to enhance the dining experience. Recently, we’ve been seeing Whisky or Brandy show up at the end of the meal to pair with chocolates and other desserts. But the latest culinary trend is pairing cocktails and fine food. The cocktail scene has burst into cities all around the world and fine cocktail bars are held in the same regard as fine dining restaurants.
In many ways cocktail and food pairings make perfect sense. Cocktails based on different spirits can be altered to highlight and transform a particular dish. Spirits on their own can be too powerful for more delicate dishes. Even with a higher ABV, cocktails allow the mixologist to dilute the alcohol and even alter the mouthfeel and temperature to ensure a perfect pairing. Cocktail pairing may not become the everyday norm, but it is a very interesting way to add a new twist to a great night out.
